join Alcon. The Director II, Research & Development Portfolio
Management , is primarily responsible for creating and implementing
an integrated plan and managing assigned new product development
projects in R&D. You will lead cross-functional project teams,
manage project status, budgets, and schedules, and ensure all
requirements are met while providing clear leadership and guidance.
Specifics include: Lead strategic planning, execution of medium to
large scale projects, cross-functional R&D portfolio
initiatives, ensuring alignment with corporate and franchise
objectives and compliance with Stage-Gate processes. Develop and
maintain integrated product development plans, overseeing project
lifecycles from inception through commercialization. Guide
cross-functional teams, proactively identify risks, implement
contingency plans, and ensure timely issue resolution to meet
safety, quality, and stakeholder objectives. Serve as a key liaison
across internal and external stakeholders, ensuring functional
alignment and effective communication. Oversee project operations,
including budget forecasting, resource allocation, and financial
planning in collaboration with Finance. Manage Product Lifecycle
Team (PLT) governance, facilitate meetings, drive project
approvals, and ensure execution of strategic initiative. Establish
best-in-class project management processes, tools, and governance
frameworks to enhance decision-making and operational efficiency.
Maintain portfolio oversight by monitoring progress, identifying
optimization opportunities, and providing executive-level insights.
Champion innovation, foster cross-functional collaboration, and
integrate scientific and business acumen to drive R&D
excellence within a global, fast-paced, and highly regulated
environment. Assist portfolio prioritization by balancing
business-critical needs, cost considerations, and resource
constraints on your projects. What You'll Bring to Alcon:
Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related
experience (or high school 18 yrs; Assoc.14 yrs; M.S.7 yrs; PhD6
yrs) The ability to fluently read, write, understand and
communicate in English 10 Years of Relevant Experience Preferred
Qualifications : Degree in Chemical Engineering; Mechanical
Engineering; Biomedical Engineering Materials Engineering or
equivalent. Medical Device Product Development Background PMP
