TypeAdministratorJob SummaryDallas College seeks a dynamic,
visionary leader to play an important role in the design,
development, and launch of the seven new Dallas College academic
schools (the Schools) who will serve as Department Chair for a
specific Dallas College academic school. Dallas College is
establishing the Schools with a new, ambitious academic framework
to ensure the Schools align with the North Texas region's workforce
and industry needs to ensure graduates' success in their
careers.The Department Chair reports to the Dean, Academic Affairs
or the Vice Provost, School of and is the only position in the
redesigned Dallas College that supervises faculty members. The
Department Chair will:1. Oversee the delivery of high-quality
instruction and facilitating faculty development. To do so, they
interface closely with the Scheduling Team to finalize the schedule
and assign faculty to courses.2. Supervise adjuncts, evaluate
faculty, support curriculum maintenance and improvement, and
prioritize faculty coaching and development.3. In partnership with
the Dallas College scheduling team, take on the primary functions
of programcoordination within their given department.4. Oversee the
general day-to-day operations of the department; develop and drive
the department's goals; support faculty development; and work in a
professional and collegial manner with faculty, staff, and
students.5. Work closely with the other Schools' leaders to ensure
all academic programs maintain a high level of academic rigor.6.
Possess a strong commitment to institutional effectiveness, program
performance management, and be well-versed in using data to make
program and school-level decisions.Required Knowledge, Skills and
AbilitiesThe complex role of Department Chair requires a skilled
individual who can both serve and coordinate multiple
constituencies. They are the primary spokespersons and advocates
for the academic department. In this role, chairs are the
guarantors of department quality.* Ability to champion the resource
needs of the department and ensure the effective use of those
resources.* Ability to promote the quality of the department's
programs while remaining alert to the need for curricular
revision.* Broad knowledge and experience executing operating
strategies and plans, managing staff, sustaining the operational
financial plan and overseeing the administrative management of the
organization(s).* Effectively leads change and organizational
growth through strategic planning.* Ability to analyze strategies
to move the organization forward, set goals, evaluate processes,
and implement improvements.* Possesses a record of success in an
administrative leadership position overseeing the operations of an
organization(s) or program(s).* Proven ability to maintain a good
working relationship with executive leadership, administrators,
staff andstudents to achieve the goals of the organization and
cultivate a positive work environment.* Advanced experiences in
creating, implementing, analyzing, and updating higher
education-based policies andprocedures and do so by striving for
high ethical standards in line with those held by Dallas College,
generally.* Knowledgeable, skillful and innovative leader who
collaboratively manages a complex set of institutional challenges
and issues, making difficult decisions focused on moving the
College forward in a productive and sustainable way that continues
to promote success.* Understands local, regional, and national
accrediting body requirements that are department and/or program
specific.* Experience in an administrative leadership position
overseeing academic-related projects or programs at an institution
of higher education.* Advanced knowledge of policies and procedures
and adheres to high ethical standards when implementing process and
improvements to comply with Dallas College guidelines.* Experience
in an outcome-based, assessment-rich, educational, corporate, or
non-profit institution.* Patience and tolerance for ambiguity and
change.* Demonstrated evidence of leadership in the development of
new programs that promote success and in building teamwork and a
shared vision.* Demonstrated successful program management
experience with the ability to pay attention to detail.* Excellent
presentation, oral and written skills and the ability to deliver
clear and effective messages to influence and engage key
stakeholders and a diverse Dallas College network community.*
Demonstrated excellence in providing customer service.* Excellent
analytical skills, exceptional organizational skills, and the
ability to think strategically and tactfully.* Ability to present
concepts effectively and influence all levels of the organization
and administration.* Capable of evaluating options and actions
based on trends and conditions in the environment, and the vision
and values of the organization.Physical RequirementsNormal physical

responsibilities.Minimum Qualifications* Master's Degree in a
relevant subject-matter plus experience in a leadership role
focused on bringing systemic change in an academic setting.*
Terminal degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate
field is preferred.* Prior teaching experience as a faculty member,
or adjunct faculty member at an institution of higher education.*
At least three years of higher education-based administrative
experience including program coordination aswell as successful
experience with program development and program approvals and a
demonstratedcommitment to education through leadership,
scholarship, teaching, or service* Understanding of program
assessment and accreditation processes/procedures.* Experience in
an international or multilingual environment is preferred.*
Demonstrated success in leading program development or
transformation (launch of new programs, redevelopment of existing
programs/schools, etc.) is also preferred.***Will be subject to a
criminal background check. Some positions may be subject to a
fingerprint check. **** Coordinate the Academic Affairs of the
Department to establish an "Outstanding Educational Program"*
Ensure the coordination (inclusive of program development, program
revision, and continuous program improvement) of credit and
non-credit programs within their department* Supervise the
activities of Department-assigned staff and faculty* Evaluate
faculty performance and report such evaluations to the appropriate
School and/or Department leader, as requested* Lead the Department
in the pursuit of the established Department goals* Create an
effective working environment for all personnel within the
Department* Effectively assess and address students' needs within
the Department* Encourage scholarly and creative activities and
advocates service to the College and the community* Provide
coaching, thought partnering, and outlets for faculty growth and
professional development - particularly in the teaching and
learning space* Monitor and manage the financial operations of the
Department programs* Respond to additional requests, assignments,
or other needs from the Vice Provost.* Performs other duties as
