Stroke Scale - Great customer service skills Description: Position
available for a travel registered nurse specializing in trauma
stepdown. The unit features 25 beds and a staff of 44 FTEs.
Staffing includes one charge nurse for every six registered nurses
on nights. Patient ratios are 1:4 with a maximum of 1:5 for
stepdown patients. The unit utilizes an EMR system. There is no
on-call requirement. Floating is required to stepdown service
lines. Typical patients include those requiring acute surgical
intervention or post-operative care. Conditions treated may
include: - Trauma surgery - Bariatric surgery - Vascular surgery -
Traumatic brain injury - General surgery - Urological surgery -
Orthopedic surgery - Neuro/spine surgery - GI bleed/endoscopy -
Pulmonary embolism Neurological diagnoses include: - CVA - TIA -
TBI - Post-neurosurgery - Altered mental status - Meningitis - New
onset seizures - Hypertensive crisis - Chest pain - CHF - Sepsis -
Alcohol withdrawal The role also supports pre and post cardiac
catheterization lab procedural patients. It includes postoperative
care for cardiac surgery patients when hemodynamically stable.
Management of unstable angina, suspected myocardial infarction, and
chest pain with acute EKG changes is required. Patients with acute
cardiac dysrhythmias necessitating medication management will also
be cared for. Team player qualities, adaptability to a changing
environment, and good communication skills are essential. Unit
guidelines include: - Vital signs monitored every four hours -
Telemetry monitoring - Patient assessments every four hours The
unit is a Level 2 trauma center, with a high patient intake from
